Sierra Nevada Hoptimum

Mmmmmm Hops! I missed out on this last year, so I made sure not to miss out this time around. This one pours a nice orange color with a modest white head that sticks to the glass after it fades. On the nose is a bountiful bouquet of hop aroma. I expect a Torpedo like smell and it was completely different. More tropical hops dominate the aroma. Upon first taste, an explosion of hops take you on a rollercoaster of tropic, citrus, and piney hops with a smooth, but crisp bitterness on the back end. Big bold hops linger on the palate and leave you wanting more. Mouthfeel is thicker than torpedo, but it's to be expected, as this is a much bigger beer. This one clocks in at 10.4% abv, but it drinks like a 7% beer. Sierra Nevada hardly ever disappoints, and this one is nothing short of stellar. Fantastic DIPA, right up there with the best.
