(512) Mango IPA

I heard a special cask was being tapped this week at Dancing Bear and I was so pumped when I found out it was (512) Mango IPA! What a way to celebrate Texas Independence Day! This pours a bright orange tinted amber and produces a thin head in which the bubbles quickly retreat to the sides of the glass. The picture doesn't do it justice, the color of the beer is beautiful. The nose is big time fruit and hops. The mango on the nose just makes me want to dive right in! On the first drink I'm hooked. The sticky, piney, and fruity hops meshes so well with the mango. If I didn't know better, I'd say there were chunks of mango in the beer. It was almost like taking a bite out of a mango and then taking a drink of a hoppy west coast IPA. The fruit profile of this beer really makes it stand out among other Texas IPA's. The mouthfeel on this brew is outstanding. It's from a cask so it's super smooth and not overly carbonated. I walked in planning on trying this, and as soon as I tasted it I knew some was going home. I wound up getting 2 half-growlers full of this stuff. Juicy, hoppy, fruity, and full of mangoliciousness! My new favorite Texas IPA, maybe even my overall favorite regular IPA.
