Weird Space: The Devil's Nebula: The Devil's Nebula

A rag-tag crew in a beat up spaceship named after poet who salvage on the edge of the law in forbidden solar systems. How can you go wrong. Unfortunately that describes only the first few chapters. Then they are captured and given the choice of working for the establishment. The rest is a standard alien threat to us all plot. The aliens are the weird who are supposed to be horrors but just seem squishy.
